Children who are at least 3 years old and 100% potty trained are eligible to attend our Forest Preschool program.
Children who are 5-10 years old are eligible to attend our Homeschool Enrichment program.
Each child should have a backpack with a change of clothes including socks and underwear, a bottle of water (two bottles for those hot summer days) and enough food & snacks for their day with us (heavy snacks for half day students/lunch & snacks for full day students is recommended).
Please leave all toys and other items at home. Our Guides will have all of the tools and learning materials that your learner will need.
We have a $100 application fee, which secures your child's spot in our program or on our waitlist.
Tuition is billed monthly and varies depending on your schedule.
Find our tuition rates here.
Yes! A tour is required before starting your Forest School journey.
We want to make sure CNS is the right fit for your child.
If your child is at least 2 1/2, they MUST join you on the tour.
If your child is younger than 2 1/2, you will need to come back when they are closer to 3.
To schedule a tour for Forest Preschool, please book a Lookout Mountain tour here.
To schedule a tour for Homeschool Enrichment, please book an Indian Hills tour here.
Colorado Nature School runs year round, completely outdoors with the exceptions of some weather conditions.
If it is below 15 degrees Fahrenheit or "feels like 0+" by the start of school (8:30 AM), class will be canceled for the day. If temperatures do rise above 15 degrees Fahrenheit by midday, full day class will be postponed two hours. The morning half day class will be canceled.
*The Indian Hills location follows differing weather guidelines due to shelter options.
If Jefferson County School District cancels school due to weather or has a two hour delay, CNS will follow that advisory.
We closely monitor "Red Flag Warnings". These are advisories for extreme wind in warm temperatures which can increase the risk of fires.
We use Mountain Forecast for weather conditions and temps.
